So, a little update on the haircut. So I went into the BX today to go to my hair appointment. I sat there anxiously and watched the people work and tried to decide which one I hoped would cut my hair. I didn't get the girl I hoped for, but whatever, I knew nothing about any of them. I sat down and told her I wanted my hair at my shoulders...just barely touching. And since her English wasn't great I took my hair and showed her where I wanted it, just to be clear. After a few attempted clarifications she nodded and reassured me she understood what I wanted.
.
She then took all of my hair in her hands and CUT. I thought she was going to cut the hair below her hand, but she cut above her hand.
AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!! I mean, I understand that some things get lost in translation, but I don't know how you misinterpret very clear hand signals that say AT MY SHOULDERS!!! I mean those are kind of universal, just like the sign for choking. If you wanted to show someone how short to cut your hair, what would you do? Exactly, that's what I did...and that's what happened!!! After the initial cut and I realized how short it was, I just closed my eyes and gritted my teeth.
.
I had a whole list of things to do on base...that quickly got aborted as I walked out of the salon and the tears started flowing! I was ready for a shorter cut, but not THAT short! I had my sad, poor me, pity party as I showered and attempted to style it myself at home. I'm over it now.
.
But there is some good that came out of it...I had enough cut off to donate it to Locks of Love. The hairdresser tied up my hair and gave it to me to donate. I have donated one other time, and it's such a great organization. If you haven't heard of it, Locks of Love is a charity that makes hair pieces for under privileged kids who have a medical condition that causes hair loss. The majority of the recipients have lost their hair due to a disease called alopecia. Take a look... http://www.locksoflove.org/
So, while I am happy to donate, it would have been nice to have been more mentally prepared and ready for my drastic new look!

Few other random pictures that I found on my camera, (The pictures from yesterday's post were from Taylor's camera)
Here is the Hard Rock Cafe in Venice. It is right off San Marco Square. I ate there with the girls a couple weeks ago when I went down to Venice. I can't remember if I wrote about it or not. But that's what happens when you go to Venice with a bunch of Americans who have been living in Italy for a few years...you get hungry for American restaurant food (besides fast food on base). A good burger and salad with Ranch dressing...mmm...
