Summer is over and school has started. Hallelujah, sweet Jesus!!!! I was at a breaking point with a few of the lovely children. I had smart alec responses running through my head as they were talking back to me or telling me no. It took every muscle in my body to stop from spitting out the thoughts going through my head. Katie...you are the adult, you are better then that, and you don't need to one up a 12 year old...at the end of the day, it won't make you feel better!
Mid-summer we took on a new challenge of having the Kindergarten program on our hallway because of storm damage to their building. We thought this was going to be a temporary solution. Well that temporary solution turned into at least a year long solution. So we now have all the children beginning kindergarten this year and they are SO young and little and well...helpless! I have to tie shoes, serve food, pour drinks, clean up spills. And the poor guys have been there for almost 2 weeks and still really don't understand the concept of our choice boards for what room they want to go to. They spray the bunny with its water bottle, they throw shoes while throwing a tantrum in the middle of the hallway, and they put their swimsuits on backwards. Never a dull moment. You want my job? I know you're jealous.
But seriously, I know I complain about work (who doesn't) but I do enjoy what I do. It is always entertaining, if it's not the kids it's the staff. So while my hours have cut back at the Youth Center I'm currently filling in for the coordinator of a Co Op volunteer child care center on base for 3 weeks while she returns to the States. So I'm working there from 830-1230 and then I head to the Youth Center from 2-6 in the afternoons. Keeping me busy!
While not at work I'm enjoying my little time at home. The weather just cooled off this weekend and I've had my air off all week with windows open. It gets quite cool at night and I've been waking up in a nice cool room under my warm comforter...mmmm...I love it. I took a little trip last weekend with my girlfriend, Sharity, to Budapest, Hungary. It was an awesome, quick trip and I'll give more details in a later post with pictures included!
And about this time two years ago I was marrying my wonderful husband! We just celebrated our two year anniversary on Monday. It was a romantic day celebrating in separate countries through email, Facebook posts, and a quick chat! Oh well. Seriously though, he and I both knew what we were getting into with military life. We got a good taste with a year apart two weeks after we got married! At this point, 6 months is nothing! But I'm so incredibly proud of him and his service to our country. I feel very blessed to move from supportive parents to a supportive husband. I work to contribute and to keep me busy...but realistically my Youth Center paycheck wouldn't allow me to pay off my student loans, buy a nice new car, and travel Europe the way we have (shocking, I know!!). But even better then all that I love, love, love him so very much and can't wait for January!
Have you had enough gushy stuff yet? I know Taylor has once he reads this in his email!! Ha, but I'm going to include a few pictures I found from...just the other day!
